Who is Lola?

Lola was my alter ego when I was younger. She was louder than me, braver than me, more fun than me...she made it possible for a once shy girl to stand up for myself and embrace the more artistic sides of my personality.

When I opened my first studio and boutique, I wanted to call it "Lola's," but I couldn't get the domain name, so I called it "Hey Lola."

Then I closed my business for a while and let the domain lapse. Someone bought it, and when I decided to restart my studio and boutique, I was once again out of luck on a domain name. So I decided on "loveheylola," and that's what I put on every social media handle, my business cards...all of the things. At this point, I'm pretty sure I'm forever loveheylola. Which is nice and familiar, but is certainly a long and mostly uninteresting story to tell.

Anyway. Lola is me. Loveheylola is me. And I'm Jessica. I turn my feelings into art, I collect garbage and turn it into art and jewelry, I talk to kids (and grown-ups!) about garbage and art, I plant gardens where there used to be garbage, and basically, I create beautiful things out of whatever trash life throws at me. But I don't do it alone. I have an amazing support system in my family, friends, customers, and "secret behind the scenes Emily."

I am forever grateful for you, and to be able to call this "work."

love, Jessica
