You Can Rest Here

"You Can Rest Here" was created after I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2021. It was originally meant to be an explosion of color and joy, but my cancer diagnosis came mid-creation and changed the whole show. Instead of color and joy, I took every piece of insurance paperwork, every bandage, every wristband, every hospital instruction, and I built a whale from them. Because I hated cancer, but I love whales.

 

And I built a place for my whale and I to rest, away from all the noise that a fear of dying can bring.
