We've been hand-punching our disc beads out of reclaimed materials for years at this point. One of our favorite things is telling you exactly what we made the beads out of: these are made from water bottle lids, discarded teal and aqua ball pit balls (aka "dirty balls"), and translucent blue soda bottle plastic. They're definitely throw away plastics, as they generally can't be recycled, and it's hard to find another use for them after their original purpose is no longer an option. But we use these old toys to make our hoop earring beads like this, and we use whatever is leftover from that to make the pigment for our trash stud earrings! Don't worry, all plastics are cleaned and sanitized before use.

Due to the handmade nature of these earrings and the materials used to create them, slight differences should be expected from pair to pair, and from the image shown to illustrate the earrings. Colors may look different in person than they appear on screen. This listing is for one pair of earrings, only. All other photos are included for size and material reference.

  • These are considered costume jewelry and should be kept in dry areas when not being worn (so don't keep them in the bathroom or kitchen, don't go swimming in them, don't wear them while dancing in the rain, etc.). Spraying chemicals on or near costume jewelry may speed up the "antiquing" of metal - for instance, perfumes, hair spray, make-up setting sprays.

When not worn, pieces should be stored in a dark, cool place, away from light and air exposure. Hair spray, perfume, etc should be applied and allowed to dry before putting on jewelry. These are not out of the ordinary storage solutions, but rather, best practices for all jewelry pieces.
