We've taken old wires, stripped out the metal, and turned the rubber coating into beads for these neutral, adjustable, black and silver bracelets. We also utilize string and focal beads from our Remnants collection of supplies (supplies that are either donated to us or from our old stock). This bracelet uses black handmade recycled beads, silver beads from our Remnants collection, and grey Remnant string with an adjustable sliding knot closure. Each bracelet expands to approximately 10" in diameter and can be adjusted to fit.
Because of the labor intensive process of this work and the uncertainty regarding sourcing of materials, these bracelets are made in small batches and have limited availability.
The plastic in my jewelry comes from beach plastic, street plastic, and leftover bits from my other recycled plastic jewelry. In many cases, there is no current method of recycling these plastics via traditional means. All plastics are cleaned and sanitized before use.
Due to the handmade nature of these earrings and the materials used to create them, slight differences should be expected from pair to pair, and from the image shown to illustrate the earrings. Adjustable Recycled E-Waste String Bracelet in Black, Gray and Silver
These are considered costume jewelry and should be kept in dry areas when not being worn (so don't keep them in the bathroom or kitchen, don't go swimming in them, don't wear them while dancing in the rain, etc.). Spraying chemicals on or near costume jewelry may speed up the "antiquing" of metal - for instance, perfumes, hair spray, make-up setting sprays.
A portion of our proceeds are donated to environmental conservation efforts. We donate a minimum of $1,000 per year to Ocean Conservancy as part of their Business Champions for Sea Change Program. We also donate $1 to Mangrove Action Project for each package we ship. The sale of these pieces also helps to fund the direct clean-up of thousands of pieces and pounds of plastic trash, as well as helping to fund environmental education efforts.
