Discarded straws in shades of a blue sky were hand-formed into flowers for these earrings. I also pulled from my remnant bead collection to make these truly unique statement earrings. The base beads are estimated to be over 60 years old - combined with the trash plastic flowers, these earrings have a story to tell. The earwires for these are .999 fine silver plated brass and the earrings measure approximately 3" long.

The colorful flowers on these artist-made earrings are each cut and formed by hand from trash plastics -these were made from discarded straws. Because of the labor intensive process of this work and the uncertainty regarding sourcing of materials, these earrings are made in small batches and have limited availability.

In many cases, there is no current method of recycling the plastics I use via traditional means. The plastics used for these earrings are currently not recyclable where I live. All plastics are cleaned and sanitized before use. And if you ever decide that you've had your jewelry long enough, you can send it back to us and we'll recycle it again!

Due to the handmade nature of these earrings and the materials used to create them, slight differences should be expected from pair to pair, and from the image shown to illustrate the earrings. Colors may look slightly different in person than they appear on screen. This listing is for one pair of earrings, only. All other photos are included for size and material reference.

  • These are considered costume jewelry and should be kept in dry areas when not being worn (so don't keep them in the bathroom or kitchen, don't go swimming in them, don't wear them while dancing in the rain, etc.). Spraying chemicals on or near costume jewelry may speed up the "antiquing" of metal - for instance, perfumes, hair spray, make-up setting sprays.
