These earrings are part of our Remnants collection. Remnants earrings are made using vintage and/or reclaimed beads. Prior to working with trash, Hey Lola jewelry primarily used beads, utilizing pieces from vintage, broken, and donated jewelry whenever possible. Because we did this for many years prior to working with reclaimed trash plastics, we have a sizeable collection of remnant beads. In addition, people still recycle their old jewelry with us, further adding to our bead collection. These earrings are made in small batches, which, combined with the use of recycled items, lend to their uniqueness.
Due to the handmade nature of these earrings and the materials used to create them, slight differences should be expected from pair to pair, and from the image shown to illustrate the earrings. Marbled Sage Arch Hoop Earrings in Gold
These are considered costume jewelry and should be kept in dry areas when not being worn (so don't keep them in the bathroom or kitchen, don't go swimming in them, don't wear them while dancing in the rain, etc.). Spraying chemicals on or near costume jewelry may speed up the "antiquing" of metal - for instance, perfumes, hair spray, make-up setting sprays.
A portion of our proceeds are donated to environmental conservation efforts. We donate a minimum of $1,000 per year to Ocean Conservancy as part of their Business Champions for Sea Change Program. We also donate $1 to Mangrove Action Project for each package we ship. The sale of these pieces also helps to fund the direct clean-up of thousands of pieces and pounds of plastic trash, as well as helping to fund environmental education efforts.
