I recently made hundreds of paper flowers for an art exhibit that told the story of the heartless and devastating bulldozing of a community garden. These flowers have since been used in other projects and have gone on to other homes, creating a sort of community garden that travels the world.

That brings me great joy.

My final piece of this project was to photograph these flowers with words of snark and motivation, wisdom and love, and continue to send this garden out in the world, as a beautiful echo of this beautiful space that once was.

The love and care that people planted there will live on.

As an artist who believes strongly in consuming less, not more, it has been difficult for me to rely solely on jewelry sales to make a living. The truth of the matter is that clean-ups, public art exhibitions, education, and speaking events all end up costing me money.

But I also believe they're the most important and impactful thing I do.

This last year has been a mishmash of experiments to figure out how to live my values and continue supporting myself. It's been hard. A lot of what I've tried hasn't worked.

Jewelry continues to be what supports me. And if you find yourself thinking that you want to support what I do, but you just don't need any more jewelry, believe me - I get it. I really do. I'm hoping that these digital downloads can be our happy medium. The sale of these will allow me to continue doing education and clean-up work, continue making art out of trash, and hopefully continue showing up for you and our planet in meaningful ways.

(And if you don't want a thing but still want to support these clean-up and education efforts, I have an option for that, as well. BUY NOTHING)
