These unique earrings were inspired by the life and work of Frida (as so many of my pieces are).
These 35 mm gold-filled hoops include white skull beads, reclaimed beads, vintage beads, and tiny flower charms. I can tell you stories about so many of the beads that come to me, but for now, I'll just tell you about one. The tiny blue flower bead was part of a huge collection that was passed on to me by the family of a beader who had passed on. She made holiday ornaments with her beads, and had stacks upon stacks of them - most seemed to be from the 1980s. I love that her family passed these on to me, and I love that I can give them a new life (with so much history) and pass them on to you, to be worn wherever you are, and wherever you will go.
As a sustainability enthusiast, I'm always looking for ways to lower my footprint. These earrings fit perfectly with my mission, as I did not purchase any new beads for these - they were designed using the remnants of donated broken/discarded jewelry and/or beads.
I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to reduce my environmental footprint by reusing existing items, preventing them from going to the landfill, and repurposing these pieces into something fresh and new. Creating in this manner also allows me to continue to create unique and limited-edition pieces.

The trash plastics (plastic pigment) in Hey Lola products come from beach plastic, street plastic, donated plastics and leftover bits from my other recycled plastic jewelry and/or sculptures. In many cases, there is no current method of recycling these plastics via traditional means. All plastics are cleaned and sanitized before use. When a binding agent is needed to hold the plastics together, we use a plant based bio resin.
We pair the plastics with high quality ear wires so that your jewelry will last longer.
And if you ever decide that you've had your item long enough, you can pop it in an envelope and send it back to us - we'll recycle it again!
